A Special April in Paris for Sean Street

17 April, 2007

On April 17th, Sean Street will be giving what has become an annual reading at The Highlander Scottish pub, on the Paris Left Bank. The Highlander, in rue de Nevers, is the base for John Kliphan's long-running "Live Poets Society", and Sean has been a popular performer at these events for a number of years. This year, however, will have a special significance. 40 years ago - virtually to the day - a 20 year-old Sean Street moved to Paris to spend an emotionally and culturally important year of his life, living on L'ile Saint Louis and discovering for the first time, the unique qualities of the Parisien literary scene. This April's reading will therefore be an opportunity to reflect of these things, and may even produce some new related poems as a result.
