The Sound of a Room
The Sound of a Room

Seán Street's latest book, The Sound of a Room: Memory and the Auditory Presence of Place, published on the 1st of October, 2020, draws on field recordings from the author's own extensive archive, as well as contributions and insights from distinguished sound specialists to explore in a philosophical and poetic way, the nature of sound within spaces. For the purposes of this book, a 'room' is interpreted as a field of consciousness, but the principle theme to the text is the nature of sound in a place without human intervention. The book asks a fundamental question: what does a place sound like - and how does the sound of a place affect our perceptions, experiences, and memories?
