Cello -

Posted on 19th August 2013

Seán Street's collection, Cello, was published by Rockingham Press in September 2013. The  poems are 'by some way, his most ambitious' (Jeremy Hooker) and range from the barrows, circles and stones of Avebury in Wiltshire to Isenheim, the Buchenwald concentration camp near Weimar, and Halifax, Nova Scotia, by way of the river estuaries of Thames and Mersey. The bookStreet's eighth collection, is a series of sequences which are collectively and broadly an elegy to the composer and cellist, Jonathan Harvey, who died in 2012. The central long poem in the book, 'Cello Music', was featured in the Hampstead Arts Festival, November, 2013.
